A Step-by-Step Process
The IT Modernization Roadmap service looks at project planning from a high level. It evaluates a variety of possible modernization paths and recommends the path that makes the most sense for your company and your objectives. The process usually takes 1-3 weeks, depending on the environment's complexity and the potential modernization scenarios, and covers the following activities:
- Gathering Information
Working closely with your company on site, Speedware experts gather information to understand your business objectives, IT environment and requirements in order to define your company objectives and the success criteria that must be achieved. Speedware uses your specifications for desired target technologies to start identifying the tools and methods that could be used to modernize your IT environment.
- Building the Roadmap
This information becomes the foundation that Speedware uses to architect a flexible source-to-target IT roadmap. Using "what-if" scenarios and a workshop-style process, Speedware looks at a number of ways in which your modernization goals can be achieved, considering the source technologies, target technologies and the various steps and tools needed to migrate, re-host and/or modernize your environment.
The roadmap activity is a flexible process. Prerequisites are prioritized and the possible modernization scenarios are refined as the workshop unfolds. For some companies the roadmap can be built quickly and in one step, but for others it may require multiple iterations, until a roadmap is developed that fully meets your company's objectives.
The roadmap is a compilation of all your current source technologies and your desired target technologies, with a recommended migration path and process description for each item. Once completed, the roadmap describes the most efficient way to execute your modernization project, while addressing your business and IT requirements and minimizing your project costs.
- Consolidating the Data
The business and IT specifications, the environment technologies and the modernization project roadmap are aggregated and presented in a formatted document. This document is summarized in a PowerPoint format which can be presented either through a webinar or a live presentation to your executives.
